So, I voted for Barack Obama.
As of this morning, I didn't really know who I was going to vote for. If anything though, I was leaning toward Hillary Clinton. I know Obama's supposed to be the "transformative" candidate and all that crap, but there was a huge part of me who really was interested in politics as usual. I would have really liked to see Republicans eat the same sort of shit Democrats have been eating for 7 years. I question Obama's readiness and experience. I have a massive man-crush on Slick Willy.
Even as I approached my poll location, I wasn't sure. The idea to cop out was coming on strong. My orginal candidate of choice, Bill Richardson was still on the ballot, after all.
However, my decision turned once I entered the polling location. There was a line. There was a bit of buzz. I've never had to wait to vote around here. (Admittedly there are two other forces at work here: a "combined precinct" in a completely new location - however even then multiple precincts usually vote at one location. Arizona is also highly encouraging of early voting/vote by mail.) Still, I got the feeling that a change really was in the air.
Maybe I'm letting my emotion take over the situation and I'm way off base. But this really felt different. |
